Oh boy...these past few days have been crazy!
So, our project for the weekend was staining the deck. And doing all sorts of yardwork. So, on Saturday, my dad got the pressure washer from my uncle, and he cleaned off all of the decking in our backyard. Mom and I went over to Shouse and LA Reynolds to get some more flowers, and then we came home and planted most of the while Dad continued to pressure wash.
So, we planted everything, and then moved to the huge task of pulling all the lemon balm that had overtaken the pathway in my mom's "secret garden" area. So, that was annoying, and extremely dirty. Then, we cleaned off the trampoline, and sat around while Dad finished. Then, I got to pull the trigger on the pressure washer & shoot water everywhere. Which was awesome. I felt like Rambo with a flamethrower, except instead of fire, it was just water. But it made me feel cool. :)
Then, we went inside, got cleaned up, and went out to BLL Rotisserie for dinner. And we ran a few errands. When we got home, our neighbor came over to spend the night with my brother, and my dad and I watched the first game of the Stanley Cup Finals, even though the Hurricanes aren't in the running.
Yesterday, Mom and I went out and stained as much of the deck surface as we could. Which was fun, but sort of tedious and tiring, but it felt good to work on a big project like that. And by the end of the day, we had gotten the top deck, the railing, the stairs, and the lower deck done. We still have all the walkway to do, and the landing by the gate, which I hope we can get done this week. Hopefully, the weather will clear up, and we can get back out there tomorrow evening.
And today, we went to Enchanted Cottage with my aunt, and bought some scrapbooking stuff. Mom and I did a "make and take", one of the freebies they do at the store, where you can make a little something (this time it was a little card) for free. And then, we went over to Coppolla's and had subs for lunch before heading home. Mom and I went out to the mall to get a few things, and then we came back home, and I'm now sitting here, trying to figure out what I need to do for the evening.
Oh, and we're not signed up for Netflix, and the past few movies we've seen have been horrible. First was 2012, which I've already written about. Then, we got Public Enemies, which I thought would be cool, but it was kinda boring. And then, we just watched Surrogates, which had a really cool subject, but not a very deep plotline, which made it really boring. And it was only an hour and a half, which, had there been a stronger plot, maybe it might have been longer, but whatever.
So, hopefully, I'll be able to post sometime this week, but I don't know cuz I'm really busy all of a sudden. But maybe...

Friends, Finales, and Final Exams
[Yeah, not a very creative title, I know.] Okay, let's see...I had a lot going on the past few days. Which is very unusual for me.
So, on Thursday, I hung around the house all day until my parents got home, and we went over to my grandmother's for dinner. We picked up Arby's, and so we ate roast beef sandwiches and curly fries before watching Wheel of Fortune and Jeopardy, and the Community. And that was pretty much all I did that day.
On Friday...well, you know, I actually don't remember what I did on Friday. Which means that it was a normal day.
Saturday I went with Sylvia, Emma, and Anita to the mall, and I had the awesomest time ever. We went into every store imaginable, and I bought a ton of stuff, which I like never do. I bought a t-shirt from American Eagle, a pair of shorts and a top from Wet Seal, three t-shirts from Hollister, and a dress from Delia's. And we had lunch from Chick-Fil-A at the Food Court. I had a really great time, just being with everyone.
On Sunday, I went over to Sylvia's for the afternoon. We watched tv for a while (Disney Channel...I think the movie was called Cow Belles, which I know I've seen before at some point), and then headed over to their neighborhood pool for an hour or so to get some sun. When I got home, I got cleaned up, and then Mom and I went to pick up chicken wings while my dad went for the pizza. You see, the series finale of LOST was coming on, and we wanted to kinda go all out for that. So, we got home, and got settled and spent the next six hours on the couch watching the series recap, then the final episode, and then Jimmy Kimmel's "Aloha to LOST" special. I loved the ending, and now I'm really sad to think that it won't be on anymore. Because it was awesome like that.
Monday we started our finals/exams for homeschool, which was cool. We have a ten-section booklet and a bubble-sheet, and it's great because the sections are timed at between like 15 and 60 minutes long. So none of that boring, "You have two hours to complete fifty questions, and you can't get up until the next stretch break" stuff. We did all the language arts ones first - Reading Comprehension, Vocabulary, Spelling, etc.
Then, we worked on Science and Social Studies, at which point my brother was getting fidgety, and so my mom let him stop, and he'll do the two math sections on Wednesday. I, however, finished my math sections after Quinn left, and so I'm completely done for the school year. Hallelujah for that...I mean, it's not that I don't like homeschool, but it'll just be good to not have a lot of work for a few months. (I'm wanting to finish the poetry unit I started, as well as do some geometry review just to keep myself from forgetting it over the summer.)

Thank Goodness for Vacations
So, here I am, back in my room. I had an awesome time at the beach. Here's what I did.
So, basically, we left at 11am on Sunday morning, and got into Myrtle Beach at around 3pm. We got checked into our hotel, and then went out to eat at the Fish House, this awesome little (well, I say little, but it's really quite large...but it's quiet, cuz there's never a whole lot of people in there) place that Mom and Dad like because they have all-you-can-eat crab legs. But instead of having them buffet-style, they just bring out another cluster as you need. So, we had fun with that. Then, we played a round of mini-golf before heading back to the hotel.
On Monday, we had to go to this timeshare presentation that was part of the package Mom got with the reduced hotel pricing, and seafood buffet gift cards. We got in a round of golf first, and I think that was the day we played Minotaur Golf, and I got three hole-in-ones. So, the presentation was supposed to start and 2pm and go for about two hours, but it ended up taking three and a half, and so it was dreadfully boring. The only good part about it was that it was raining the whole time, so it wasn't like we would have been doing much else.
We went to Sticky Fingers for dinner, and we all had fun with figuring out our "Blues Names" on the card on the table...you use your first initial to find the first part of your blues name, then your middle, then your last. Mine was Fat Foot Jefferson, which is totally awesome. So, after that, we went back to the hotel, and went for a walk on the beach, and then sat in the hot tub for a while.
On Tuesday, we got up and went out to play my favorite course, Captain Hook's Adventure Golf, which I really have no idea why I like. I think it's the combination of feeling like a kid again with all the Peter Pan/Captain Hook stuff, and the whimsical sort of layout. But anyway, we played both the courses on that one, and then went back to the hotel to go to the pool for a while. I ended up just pulling out my book, which I had yet to start, called Waiting for You, and ended up finishing all 320 pages in just over two hours. It was a great book, by the way.
Then, we went out to Hook's Seafood Buffet for dinner, since that's the place we had gotten the gift cards for. It was a nice little place, and the food was good, too. So, after that, we drove over to Broadway at the Beach, and Quinn and Mom went into MagiQuest for an hour while Dad and I walked around. We looked in some of the shops...a couple of sports stores, a hat shop, a t-shirt shop, and RideMakers, which is like Build-A-Bear for guys, where you can make your own RC car. You get to pick a body, and then choose if you want RC or not, and then pick out your wheels and rims and decals and all sorts of good stuff. Dad and Quinn had done it a few years ago, but we always stop in because if they ever have a VW Punchbug/Beetle body, I'm totally making one.
So, then we went back and picked up Mom and Quinn, and we all went to Jurassic Golf and played both the courses there. And then we went back to the hotel, and my feet were killing me. And we watched Letterman and talked for a while, which was fun.
And, finally, on Wednesday, we woke up, packed up, and checked out, then played a last round of mini-golf, and then got some lunch. We went to one of our favorite spots, Cheeseburger in Paradise. I love the decor in that place; it's so tropical and island-ish and awesome. I had fish and chips, and we got fried pickles as an appetizer, which is one of my faves. And we had this awesome thing called a Copa Banana for dessert. It was basically banana pudding with Nilla wafers and bananas and strawberries and toasted coconut, but it was so good.
So, after that, we got on the road. And spent the next four hours on the road, part of which I spent watching a movie on my iPod. When we got home, we put all our stuff away, and then Mom and I went to pick up dinner from Frank's and get a few things at the grocery store. And then we came home and ate, and we watched Wheel of Fortune and Jeopardy, and then watched the episode of Lost that we recorded from Tuesday, which was really cool. Cannot wait until the season finale. And then I took Ella out and watched tv, and now I'm in my room, ready for a good night's sleep.
Oh, but wait...I'm having some emotional turmoil (well, not really, but that's the best way I can put it) right now. Why? Emma's moving. To their house in Oriental. Permanently. And not that we won't ever see each other again, or lose touch, or lose our friendship, because those things won't ever happen, I'm sad to hear that she's leaving. Because it just won't be the same without her. But we'll keep in touch, and I promised her that I'd convince my mom to let us vacation down there this summer so we could come see her. So, yeah, that's my issue right now. I'm still in this denial phase, where I'm like "This can't be happening. This isn't happening." because I can't imagine my life without Emma...weird, right? Oh well...
Okay, not I'm really tired, and this post has gotten really super long, so I'd better stop here. There's not much else to talk about anyway. So...bye!

Well You Can't Say I Didn't Try...
So, right now, I'm extremely jittery and whatnot, so please excuse the randomness of this post...but I did say that I was going to post before I left, and I can't see myself having the time in the morning, even though we're not leaving until 11:00.
Today has been busy...really busy. I got up, showered, and then went out to Enchanted Cottage with Mom. The "little cottage" was having a 60% off sale, so we got a few little things to work with, like some new papers and stickers and things. Then, we went over to my aunt's house to pick up a rock that she had gotten for my mom, because we needed one for our backyard. We got to see the pool without the blue tile on it anymore, which was neat...I really can't wait until they get it finished, because it's going to look so cool.
But anyway, then, we went to McDonald's and picked up lunch for us and the guys, and headed home to eat. Mom, Dad, and I watched a movie (of which the name escapes me right now) on FX, and then I came back to my room to try and get some things done. Which, of course, didn't work. My computer was messing up, so I spent most of my time trying futilely to sort all that out. When I finally did get around to working, I bought the songs my mom and I wanted from iTunes, and then went downstairs and cleaned Ella's cage, because that's all I had time for.
Now, I'm sitting up here in my room, while Mom and Dad are sleeping, and Quinn is downstairs doing his normal weekend stay-up-all-night thing. I still have yet to pack my suitcase, or my toiletry bag, or my bag of stuff for the car ride. Plus, I'm really hungry, since I didn't have time to eat dinner. But whatever. Right now, I'm working on pulling things together into piles for the morning, and trying to make up my mind on what clothes I should bring.
So, I'll be back on Wednesday. But until then, have fun!

It Was Beauty Killed The Beast
Okay, so this week's been going pretty good. Thank goodness for that.
Monday - Normal, I guess. Nothing really special, except for my utter excitement about finishing my geometry lessons this week...I'm surprised I haven't ripped out all my hair during these 120 lessons. And I'm finishing Wordly Wise this week, which only leaves my literature stuff, which Mom said I can carry over into next school year if I want to. But I think I'll at least finish the poetry section, which I've already started anyway.
Tuesday - I did some of my school work, and then ended up watching a couple of movies. I'd been curious about Citizen Kane for a while now, since it's one of the AFI's top-rated films. I don't know, maybe it's just me, but I didn't like it. I found the plot kinda boring, and Orson Welles looks really funny/weird to me. But maybe when I'm older, I'll watch it again, and my like, "Oh my gosh, that was awesome!" Idk... My other movie was the original King Kong from 1933. Awesome...just awesome. Granted, the stop-motion Kong was totally laughable, but for being made early on like that, it was neat. Loved the screaming Fay Wray, too. It's really a great movie, obviously not as good special-effects-wise as the 2005 remake (duh), but a great film nonetheless.
Wednesday - School work and running errands with Mom in the morning, then dinner with Granny, which, of course, is always fun. After dinner, we watched Wheel of Fortune and Jeopardy, and then my dad and I took her home. When we got back, we watched Criminal Minds and CSI: New York, our normal Wednesday night shows.
Thursday - I was really lazy, and didn't really do much the whole morning, just played around on the computer. My new favorite program is Windows Movie Maker, and I'm having fun with that. So, Mom got home from work, and then we went over to the mall so I could get some clothes. I bought a couple of camis at Justice, which was nice because they were 40% off. And then we went over to Old Navy and looked around, but I was really disappointed because the commercials have been advertising all these cute dresses, and they only had a couple of styles in stock. So that was a bust.
But, we went across to Deb (idk why i don't shop there more...I love that place. Maybe it's because half the store is filled with dresses, and I would totally buy one every time I went in there...but anyway.) So, I looked around, and found a couple of pairs of YMI short-shorts, one in black, one in white. They had some really cute t-shirts, but the ones I liked all had these angel-ish wings painted on the back, and I felt too much like a biker chick to buy one. But, the shorts were enough, and they were buy-one-get-one-50%-off, so that was awesome, too.
So, we picked up Papa John's pizza on the way home, and then watched Survivor, The Office, 30 Rock, and The Mentalist. Well, I didn't watch The Mentalist...I found the Rotten Tomatoes movie review program, and watched their reviews of Robin Hood, Letters to Juliet (which premieres this weekend...yay!), and Just Wright, along with their Michael Caine interview, and the many clips of George Lucas' scenes in Star Wars where people are desperately clinging to a ledge or an edge of something or whatever...and there were lots of them.

I have the rest of this week's school stuff to finish, and I only have two or so days to pack for the beach. I can't believe we're leaving on Sunday! Four days of rest and relaxation, family mini-golf tournament, lots of sun and fun and seafood...and hopefully *crosses fingers* some good weather.
So, I'll try to post something this weekend before I leave, and I've really got to do some sort of deep, thoughtful, insightful sort of post...maybe that'll come after the trip. Oh, by the way, the title is a line from King Kong, just in case anybody was wondering...

So, I'll try to post something this weekend before I leave, and I've really got to do some sort of deep, thoughtful, insightful sort of post...maybe that'll come after the trip. Oh, by the way, the title is a line from King Kong, just in case anybody was wondering...

Where'd My Weekend Go?
Another semi-busy week. Nothing much happened this week, but this weekend has been really busy.
On Saturday, we went out to lunch at Hutch & Harris, as an early Mother's Day celebration. My mom had us try the pimento cheese and hard-boiled egg pizza as our appetizer, and contrary to how nasty it sounds, it was actually pretty good. So, we had fun, just the four of us, having lunch together. That evening, we watched 2012, because Mom had just signed up for Netflix, and this was the first movie that came. It was just alright. Your typical disaster movie with total destruction, and only a fraction of the population able to survive via government-based operations. You know, I'd love to see one disaster/end-of-the-world type movie where everyone dies...haha, I know that would totally be a stupid movie, but I'd like to see it nonetheless.
Today, we had Mother's Day brunch with my grandmother, and I rediscovered my love of my mom's breakfast casserole, and I found a new love in waffles with strawberries and whipped cream. we gave my grandmother a box of chocolates and a card, and gave my mom her cards and a Coldwater Creek gift card. After taking my grandmother home, we went over to Walgreen's for some stuff, and then came home. I worked on the computer for a while, and then at six, we left to go to The Grand to see Clash of the Titans, as a gift to my mom, who has been hinting at wanting to go for weeks now. The movie was just okay - the 3D really wasn't all that amazingly special, and I personally don't really like mythology anyway, but as I say, "It was a good waste of two hours."
Oh, and my mom and I have been transplanting more plants from my aunt's yard. The pool looks really weird without any water in it, and the concrete decking has been completely taken off, so it looks like a disaster area. I really can't wait for them to have it done - the plans look really awesome. Oh, and I weeded a lot this weekend while Mom was transplanting. And this morning, I saw the little brown bunny that's been living in our yard. He was just sitting in the grass, and then ended up tearing across the yard for whatever reason. But it was cute while it lasted. (Whoa, that whole paragraph was really random...)
Um, I guess that's it...like I said, not much going on right now. I think I'm going to try to post a lot more, and have some posts that aren't just recaps of my weeks. So, yeah...

It's Been Way Too Long Since I Last Posted
So, let's see...where do I begin? Well, let me start off with the fact that I'm still lazy, and that's the reason for not posting for a week. Sorry.
Um, there's not all that much to talk about, really. I'm happy, healthy, and life is good. Let's see how many things of importance I can come up with.
- I helped my mom transplant a bunch of plants from my aunt's yard to our yard. Her pool is being renovated, and the plants were going to get run over by the machinery anyway, so she let us take some for our yard. So, I drove back and forth from her house to ours like fifty bazillion times this weekend. Bu at least that's lots of driving practice!
- I discovered that the Mayberry's by my old gymnastics place has closed, which was disappointing, because I had memories attached to that place. When my grandmother would come watch my gymnastics class, we'd go over there for a meal afterwards, and I loved it over there. But I guess they just didn't get much business over there...oh well.
- I watched Master and Commander: The Far Side of the World and The Patriot this weekend, for nor reason whatsoever. They were both good. (I'd seen The Patriot before, though. And I still laughed at the whole "ink in the tea" thing, even though I totally knew it was coming.) Master and Commander was good, even though Mom and I aren't really fans of Russell Crowe. That said, I am planning on seeing Robin Hood in theaters when it comes out, so I guess we like him more than we think.
- My classic movie list is going good. I'm currently at 73 pre-1970 films, and I'm on track to reach 100 in a few weeks or so. I just watched another Astaire/Rogers film this week, Swing Time, which was adorable. The scene where Fred sings "The Way You Look Tonight" is just plain sweet, and the dances were really well done throughout the whole film.
- I've taken a liking to old time radio shows, which I know is kinda crazy. I found this website that has free downloads of "Lux Radio Theater" broadcasts from the 30's and 40's. It's basically an hour-long radio play, usually a shortened version of a popular movie at that time, sometimes being read/played by the stars themselves. Really cool. Except for the super-obvious, and kinda annoying, pre-show, mid-show, and post-show plugs for Lux brand soap, but whatever. So, that's my new thing.
- Oh, and we're going on a beach trip in a few weeks. Mom got some deal from Bass Pro Shops for a really good price on a hotel, and so we'll be going down to Myrtle Beach for a few days during the middle of May. Which is going to be wonderful, by the way, because it's kinda off-season, so there probably won't be as many people around as there would be during the summer. And we'll totally be doing lots of mini-golfing...sweet!
- Today, Mom and I went over to have lunch with my grandmother, which was cool. We brought over some stuff from McDonald's, and sat and ate and talked and watched the birds, which although doesn't sound really fun, it was. And I rediscovered my love of McDonald's fish sandwiches...lol.
- Oh, and the Pretty Little Liars book series is being turned into a tv series. It's premiering on ABC Family on June 8th at 8:00pm (I think...), and I am totally watching it. I'm not really one to watch ABC Family, but I think this series will change that. And I'm really hoping that the last book in the PLL series, Wanted, releases soon!
