Monday

So I sat around my grandparent's house last night, listening to my grandmother, my mom and two of my aunts trying to convince my cousin that she should go to either St. John's or Niagara University because she received full 4-year scholarships at each of them. But of course Katie has her heart set on Bob Jones University (in SC, near Furman University), a Christian college with a bad reputation. So all night, I was listening to screaming from both sides of the equation. And I think I'm siding against Katie.
We're going to Niagara On The Lake at one-ish today. It's a cute little town with lots of shops and restaurants, so I'll be having fun while you guys are in school. Oh and have fun on the field trip tomorrow. I'll be texting you!

Away From Home

So I finally got my laptop hooked up at my grandparent's house. We were having issues with the wireless router, but it's all good now.
Here's what I've been doing for the past few days.
Thursday - Got on the road about 4 pm, ate dinner ate Shoney's (I had fish & chips), got a hotel at around 10:30 pm.
Friday - Had chocolate chip mini-muffins for breakfast, got to Buffalo at noon, ate at Frank's (I had beef on weck, kinda like a northern version of a roast beef sandwich), helped my grandmother with favors for the baby shower, and watched Gran Torino, which was neat.
Saturday - went my aunt's baby shower, then came back and had dinner with my aunt/uncle, grandparents, my mom, my uncle, one of my cousins and one of my other aunts. We had pizza from this place called Grasso's, which was pretty good.

And now I'm sitting here, half-watching professional bowling, typing this entry and my notes from history class. I think we're going to try to get together with my cousins, Sarah and Julia, for dinner, a movie, or a mall trip. It's nice being away from my dad and brother for a little while, but I miss Ella!

I Love Fridays!

Some really short, really random thoughts that I've decided to post...

So today being Good Friday and all gave me a chance to catch up on sleep and just relax. Haven't done much of the four things I have to do this weekend, but I'll prolly start reading Killer Angels tonight. Oh and I did start my take-home test for math yesterday, so yeah.
I checked my friends' blogs, and I got the chance to read some of the posts I had missed either because I didn't check or hadn't been following their blogs at the time. I had fun reminiscing about the Wake Forest library field trip (after reading Maggie and Sylvia's entries).
I've officially decided that I have a music obsession. Every time I log on to my laptop, I turn my iPod on.
I dyed Easter eggs with my brother today. Although I don't believe in the Easter bunny anymore and really didn't feel like dyeing eggs, my mom convinced me to do it for my brother's sake (yes, he stills believes in the Easter bunny, Santa Clause, etc.). But I had some fun using a crayon to write or draw stuff on to my eggs before dyeing them.
I love stormy weather! I don't know what it is about thunder and lightning, but it's so exciting to me.
Oh and I got my order from Justice! I got this really cute blue dress, which kinda reminds me of the stuff Taylor Swift would wear. I also got a green shrug and a pink bandeau top (fyi, the ones that tie around your neck, where the strings are attached from the front). And I got a freebie! I don't know whether it was a packaging mistake or if Justice is just giving stuff away, but I got this dark blue shirt with a white cartoon dog on it, and it was in my size, so I kept it. Ha!
I'm thinking about changing my background for my blog, and I've got it narrowed down to about ten options, so hopefully I'll have decided by tomorrow. I was on pyzam.com for about 2.5 hours looking around for a good background!
I've still got to take Ella out tonight, and I hope she doesn't start chewing on the walls and furniture again. But she's cute, so she gets away with it. I absolutely love her! I did a two-page spread of her in my poetry journal, with pictures and a really long story about my decision, her name (Chinderella) and just how cute she is! I hope Mrs. Allman likes it!
I never got to post that I read Mitch Albom's For One More Day. It was so good! I actually stayed up until 1:00 am this past Sunday (yes, a school night) reading it. It only took about 2 hours to read and was well worth it. Kinda makes you rethink your whole purpose in life. On another note, I'm in between books right now, but I think I'm going to read Down a Dark Hall by Lois Duncan next. I love her books, like I Know What You Did Last Summer and Killing Mr. Griffin. But for now, I'm rereading some of The Death Collector, just because I loved it so much!
And I've officially decided that I'm a history freak. This year's class has been so much fun, and it has really opened my eyes to all the neat things that have happened in this country. (For those of you who didn't know already, I'm not going on the DC trip. And no, it wasn't my parents' decision. It was mine. I honestly didn't want another Florida Keys type packet and note-writing experience. Sitting on a battlefield and listening to lectures didn't seem that fun to me. Plus, since my parents are home-schooling us next year, when my brother learns US history, we'll prolly take a trip to DC. We've already been to Philly, Jamestown, Yorktown and Williamsburg, so we're covered with the exception of DC and a promised Monticello trip.)
I've got an orthodontist appointment scheduled for the 24th, and I kinda hope I'll get my braces taken off. But I'm sure it won't happen, since the nurse (at my last visit) said that it would be like 2 or 3 more visits, but the past two times I've been there, they haven't done anything but change the rubber chain like they normally do. No wires changed, no rubber bands/elastics, no extra contraptions put in my mouth, nothing. So I'm secretly hoping that Friday the 24th will be the day.

Wow, I wrote a lot. Sorry! OMG! It's raining again! Yay!

Don't know why I'm even writing about this. I bought a few songs on iTunes cuz I got a $25 gift card from my aunt for my birthday (I know, kinda pathetic that I haven't used it until now, but I was using the money on another gift card from Christmas until today).

So I'm sitting here with my iHome on, iPod hooked up and on shuffle mode, occasionally singing along with my horrible voice! I still can't believe it's a school night. I finished my math homework during class, so I don't have anything else to do! It feels so weird not having my poetry journal with me anymore; I really didn't want to turn it in, it was that much fun!

Night Owl

I love being up late at night...But anyways here's a recap of the past few days.

Thursday - I already posted for Thursday, so this is a recap of that night. Quinn's friend, Jackson, came over and spent the night. I ended up staying awake long enough to finish watching Saving Private Ryan with the two of them. It was at least 1:30 am by the time the movie wrapped up.

Friday - I woke up at 10-ish and played on my computer until lunchtime. My dad brought us Chick-Fil-A, which was good as usual. Then, I let Ella run around in the playroom for a little while, before going to Target with my mom. I bought a small plastic carrying case for my shampoo, body wash, etc., as I think my brother has been using my stuff. So now I keep all of my toiletries in my room, which is a pain in the butt, but there's no other option. After returning from Target and eating dinner, I went into my room and watched TV until about 3 am before going to sleep.

Saturday - I woke up pretty late (maybe 11-ish) and watched a few hours of TV out in the living room, while my parents and brother went about their daily activities. I went into my room to finish my math homework, which I think the lesson is pointless. And I don't understand why Ms. Vasili has to give us weekend (or in this case, break) textbook homework and classwork worksheets. I then turned to working on my poetry journal, which I am very sad to be ending. I think I will make a point of continuing after Mrs. Allman grades and returns them, as I am only about halfway through my 100-page journal. I then went downstairs to let Ella out, which was fun at first. She was really spazzy today, jumping everywhere and literally bouncing off the walls. But then she started chewing on the floor molding and the wall itself, tearing off the paint. I had to take clear packing tape and cover the spots that she had started chewing because she was gradually making the spots larger and larger. But she kept chewing, and so as I pushed her away from the wall, she started growling at me, which she never does. She nibbled at my hands as usual, but as I got more forceful with her, she actually bit me hard enough to draw blood! At this point, I was getting really annoyed, so I picked her up and put her back into her cage. I then bandaged my finger and went out into the living room to watch Australia with my mom. It was pretty good, except for the fact that it was way too long, almost 3 hours! Then, I went into my room, wrote some song lyrics into my poetry journal and proceeded to type this really super long entry for my blog! (An ode to Robyn's super-long entry! lol)

And now it's almost 2 am and I'm honestly not that tired. I'll probably get to sleep at like 3 or something.

The Death Collector

So as you know, I've been reading The Death Collector by Justin Richards. I had read up to page 110 in homeroom on Tuesday and started reading it again at about 11:30 last night. Believe it or not, I actually stayed up until 2 am to finish the book (320 total pages, so I read 210 pages last night). And let me tell you, it was awesome! Probably one of the best books I have ever read. The first part of the book was confusing because of the fifty bazillion characters I had to get to know, but once I got into the heart of the book, I just couldn't put it down. And I finally understood the first line: "Four days after his own funeral, Albert Wilkes came home for tea," but you'll have to read the book to find out how it makes sense. (Because of the many things going on in the book, I would suggest reading it instead of having me try and explain it to you, but I will try if you want me to.)
