The Death Collector

So as you know, I've been reading The Death Collector by Justin Richards. I had read up to page 110 in homeroom on Tuesday and started reading it again at about 11:30 last night. Believe it or not, I actually stayed up until 2 am to finish the book (320 total pages, so I read 210 pages last night). And let me tell you, it was awesome! Probably one of the best books I have ever read. The first part of the book was confusing because of the fifty bazillion characters I had to get to know, but once I got into the heart of the book, I just couldn't put it down. And I finally understood the first line: "Four days after his own funeral, Albert Wilkes came home for tea," but you'll have to read the book to find out how it makes sense. (Because of the many things going on in the book, I would suggest reading it instead of having me try and explain it to you, but I will try if you want me to.)

Knowing

I just got back from the movie theater. I saw Knowing with Nicholas Cage. I thought it was pretty cool, and I ended up catching some of the biblical references (even though I'm not religious). However, the stalker-like guardian angels were kinda creepy and the alien-like transportation system was weird. But overall, I thought it was really good - I love codes and puzzles, so the [date, deaths, location] list concept blew me away and the solar flare disaster scenario was neat (albeit a little scary that it could happen).
And we got a really good deal because tickets were $16 total (for the four of us) and the concessions (sodas & popcorn) were only $8 because the Carmike near Bethabara has a stimulus Tuesday deal, where small drinks and small popcorns are only one dollar each. So, a good start to Spring Break!

Fyi - I have a new theme song - Math Suks by Jimmy Buffett (I absolutely hate math class right now; we're learning about radical expressions, which is a really difficult and stupid skill we will probably never use in our life.)

Another Week Over

School:
Thanks goodness it's Friday! It's been such a long week - too many things to worry about... Projects, tests, essays, assemblies - I'm so glad it's over with! Except for the Modernism Poetry Analysis Essay and finishing my SS test, Monday and Tuesday will be pretty easy.

Books:
I've started reading The Death Collector by Justin Richards. I'm only on the fourth chapter, but so far two people have died (one of which who "came home for tea"), a museum has been broken into, books have been burned, and the curator has lost the last remaining piece of a scientist's diary (which is what the robbers tried to get rid of). It sounds like it's set in industrialist London, but I'm not 100% sure.

Music:

- Brother of the Mayor of Bridgewater by The World/Inferno Friendship Society (Okay, I know you've never heard of it, but I like it.)

Random:
I totally sounded like an idiot in math class today! I was reading our history of Neptune, but Robyn had written it (but wasn't at school today). So, I tried to read her report as best I could. I was talking about Neptune's moons and Robyn had listed them, but there were so many and lots of them were just combinations of letters and numbers. I tried to count them really fast as I was presenting, but after a long pause, just said that Neptune had "lots of moons." Everyone started laughing, including me, and I really hope that they just thought it was funny, not because I did something stupid. (I was actually laughing at myself as I typed this entry.)

Stressed Out

I'm so stressed right now, so I'm writing this entry to vent...

Posting More Often...

Not much to say right now...Just wanted to post something so Emma won't tease me about not updating more often. lol.

School:
I'm really hoping that I didn't totally fail the grammar test...Oh yeah and I have to miss my 3 favorite classes so that I can take that stupid NAEP test.

Books:
So if anyone hasn't noticed, as a substitution for the PLL series (Killer doesn't come out until May/June), I'm reading the Death By series (Death by Bikini, Death by Latte and Death by Denim). It's really good so far - if you consider secret CIA moms and that sort of stuff interesting.

Television:
Watched the Oscars last night - awesome! Loved Natalie Portman's dress! Found Hugh Jackman surprisingly funny - loved his opening skit. Also liked the musicals number (Hey Emma, did you recognize Amanda Seyfried and Dominic Cooper aka Sophie and Sky from Mamma Mia? Although I almost guess you didn't watch it, considering how late it was.)

Random:
My aunt (who btw lives in RI) is having a baby shower in April. Except we can't go 'cuz my dad and Quinn have a RC tank competition (don't ask!) that weekend. And my mom is too scared to drive her '95 Buick Century to Buffalo, NY. So I'm going to miss the shower just 'cuz my mom doesn't want to take the chance of messing up her car.

Stealing an Idea from a Friend

Okay, I’m going to steal an idea from a friend’s blog. Sorry, but it’s going to help me post more often.

School:
It’s just okay. I have some classes that I really love and some that I really hate. (just ask Emma!) Keeping my fingers crossed that I won’t fail any big tests soon!

Friends:
I’m realizing that some of the girls in my class who I thought were my friends really aren’t. But that’s how life goes…right? But I’m finding some new friends who I had never considered before, so yeah.

Travel:
Not going to Europe this summer, but I’m trying to convince my parents to take me to Monticello sometime this year. I’m also hoping to go to Washington DC with my family for at least a few days (long enough to see all the sights), but we’ll wait and see.

Random:
I’ve been out with a stomach virus for two days. It sucks being out of the loop. And I left my grammar book in my locker (typical me), so I’ll have lots of work to make up when I come back.

Happy Birthday To Me!

Yay! Tomorrow's my birthday! At 8:08 in the morning, I will be 14 years old! Although I'm not having a party with my friends, I'm getting together with some of my relatives tomorrow for a small party! I'm getting a yellow cake with whipped chocolate icing - yum! I hope my birthday is awesome!
