I'm Exhausted...

So, I feel like I'm about to fall over/pass out/go to sleep right now, but I wanted to get this down before it got away from me.

I don't think we did much on Friday...Dad was home from work, so we mainly chilled out until Mom got home, and I think we ran a couple errands, but honestly, I can't remember right now, and obviously, it wasn't important to the story anyway...

Today though was much more interesting. I got up, got ready, straightened my hair, painted my toenails, and waited around for Mom to come home with doughnuts from Dunkin' Donuts. So, I had my peanut doughnut and some milk, and then pretty much grabbed all of my stuff and headed out. I drove up to Lewisville/Clemmons and out to my mom's co-worker's house, and she gave me a couple of last-minute reminders, and then they headed out. They were having their daughter's birthday at the Little Theater, and it wasn't the type of party that their 3-yr.-old son would have been all that interested in.

So, anyway, Nathan and I watched about 30 mins. of Toy Story 3, while Nathan shot the foam darts out of his Nerf gun, and then we switched over to about an episode and a half of Superhero Squad with a Nilla wafer snack. Then, we went outside for half an hour, playing on their swingset and Nathan rode around on his tricycle for a little while. We went back inside, and ended up watching three of episodes of Care Bears, and some of Elf, with a cracker snack, and then Nathan played some games on one of those tv/keyboard/mouse or tv/joystick hookups, and by that time, his parents were home.

And I actually had fun...of course, the money is nice, too, but it actually wasn't that bad. I thought there might be some screaming or pitching a fit or something, but Nathan was well-behaved and really, most of the time I just sat on the floor watching the movie or episode or whatever and just supervising him.

So, anyway, I drove home, and then Mom and I went to the Sprint store to get her contacts from her old phone transferred to her new phone, and then we ordered and picked up chicken wings and brought them home and ate. And they were so good...I'm not sure if it was because I was just so hungry or if it was because we hadn't had them for so long, but they were awesome. And then, Mom, Quinn, and I ended up heading out to my aunt's to see if she had a circle punch (scrapbook term, it's like a big hole punch...not a literal punch), but she didn't, so we circled around to Gamestop so Quinn could get a game, and then we stopped at the grocery store for milk.

And then, we got home, and looked at the Supermoon, and Dad and I watched some of Jeff Dunham: Spark of Insanity on Comedy Central, and then I cleaned Ella's cage. Afterwards, we came upstairs, and I had a cup of tea and a cake doughnut, and now I'm super-tired, and I really should stop here...

On the agenda for tomorrow...grocery shopping, and I think that's it...not much for the week either.

Look, Look, Look to the Rainbow...

So, not much has been going on, but I'm bored right now, and felt like typing, so here I am.
I guess it's been a pretty normal week... I finished Animal Farm by George Orwell a yesterday, and I have to say, it was quite interesting. Just reading about main characters who are animals was pretty different...different, but cool.

Mom and I went to Target yesterday for hairdryers, because hers died, and mine was getting there...my high setting was nowhere near the power it used to be. So, we got those, and a couple of other things, and that was it.

I've been trying to watch some more movies than I had been, and this week, Mom is working all week, so I've had a good chance to watch a couple...Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs (which I hadn't seen in years), After the Thin Man, The Broadway Melody (a Best Picture winner), and today, in honor of St. Patrick's Day (and because TCM runs Irish/St. Patty's Day movies anyway), I watched Finian's Rainbow, which was actually pretty cute. Silly, but cute.

And I really wish I could find the dance Astaire (still dancing around at age 69) and Clark perform to "Look to the Rainbow", but it's not online anywhere...so I'll drop in another scene instead... Ah, crud...embedding is disabled...well, here's the link http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JQfjFYV3ihc&feature=related
Basically, Fred goes off into the woods to bury the pot of gold he stole and meets the leprechaun he stole it from.

So, anyway, I thought it was a cute movie, and it got me in the St. Patty's Day spirit. Yes, I did put on a green shirt this morning, but I hadn't really been feeling the whole shamrocks and leprechauns and Irish vibe until I saw that movie. Now, I'm twirling around humming "Look to the Rainbow" and having a good time of it, too.

Um, what else? Not much...Mom started her new night/evening job this past Monday, working for a cleaning company at Hanes Brands offices. We're going to Louisville, KY to watch my uncle compete in an Iron Man in August, so she's working to get up some extra money for that. Which is great, but it means I get to spend less time with her in the evenings, since she leaves at 5:30, and isn't back until 10:15. But, I guess we'll survive.

Last night was pretty cool, though. Mom left at 5:30, and Quinn and I ate dinner (meatloaf, Au gratin potatoes, corn, salad), and chilled for a little while. I watched Jeopardy by myself (Quinn went into his room), and it was very interesting...the two challengers had negative scores at the end of Double Jeopardy, and so couldn't play in the final round, so there was only one guy up there answering the final question.

Anyway, Dad came home around 8:30, while I was letting Ella out, and then I came upstairs and had a piece of a Jersey Mike's turkey sub (Dad had ordered a sub platter for his meeting, and had food leftover), and we wrapped a couple for lunch the following day. So, we ended up watching Criminal Minds, which was amazing...it was Prentiss' (played by Paget Brewster) last episode, and it was definitely pretty awesome. And then, Mom came home, and we ended up watching it again so we wouldn't accidentally spoil it for her. And then, we pretty much went to bed, but it was a fun night.

Okay, that's enough. And I'm sorry for the really random topic choices, but that's the way my brain was thinking, and I'm too lazy to reorder everything. Not much on the agenda for the next few days, except for the fact that I'm babysitting my mom's co-worker's 3-year-old son on Saturday for about three or four hours, so that should be interesting, and hopefully, pretty fun.

Just Chilling Out...

Not much to talk about, but I'm on here anyway...

So, the rest of my week, after my night at the movies with Robyn, was pretty normal. Mostly schoolwork and chilling out. The rain helped with the chilling out part. Anyway, we ran a couple of errands on Friday, and that was pretty much it, even though Dad was off from work and Mom worked a half day. The only other interesting thing was that my mom and brother came home wet and muddy from their walk, after going out on the floating pathway at the pond/lake at Bethabara, and slipping and falling and getting wet. My mom totally fried her phone because of it.

Today was cool, though. I got up, and mostly waited around until Mom got home from the Sprint store, with a new phone in tow. We had peanut doughnuts for breakfast/lunch, and then Mom, Quinn, and I went to Target to get a couple of gifts and cards and such for some upcoming birthdays and things. And then, we came home, and Mom and Quinn left for a walk, and I helped Dad put some songs on his iPod.

And then, Mom and Quinn came home, and got cleaned up, and we went to Applebee's for dinner. We ended up having to wait a little while for a table, but the food was good (I had dijon chicken with portobellos), and we had fun. Once we were finished, we paid, and left, and headed home, and I cleaned Ella's cage, and then Mom, Quinn, and I watched Aladdin, which I hadn't seen in years. So, it was a nice trip down memory lane.

Tomorrow should be pleasant. We're going grocery shopping, and then going to Kohl's so Mom can get a couple of pairs of khaki pants for the job she starts on Monday. And I think that's it for the next few days...

Anyway, I've been on this strange Sony Vegas video-making kick, so I think I'll upload something to YouTube tomorrow...not that it matters. This just goes to show you how much of a life I have...but whatever. And I have no idea what else to talk about...so I guess I'll just stop here, even though this is a pretty short post.

Pick Yourself Up, Dust Yourself Off, Start All Over Again...

I think I'm just about the happiest girl in the world right now...and it feels pretty darn good. :)

Anyway, so Monday, Mom stayed home from work, and I ended up running errands for a little while. I went to the bank to cash a check for Mom, and then headed over to Target. I got what I needed - body wash and headbands - and then ended up looking in the shoe section, just for the heck of it, even though I have tiny feet and none of the women's shoes ever fit me. Well, wouldn't you know it, I found a pair, in a size 5.5, that fit pretty well. I can't find a picture of them online, and right now, I'm not in the mood to take pictures, so yeah. But, they're cute, and they fit, and I like them. So, that was basically Monday, except for schoolwork and all that.

I finished The Grapes of Wrath on Monday, and it was actually really cool. It was the weirdest ending though. I was expecting some sort of revelation or resolution or something, but it never came. But, it was still pretty cool. I'm glad I read it. And thanks to Robyn for pushing me to read it...it had been sitting on the shelf for the longest time.

So, today was pretty amazing. I woke up at 8:00, got ready, went downstairs, made a couple of cards, then watched Storm in a Teacup, an old 1937 movie starring Vivien Leigh and Rex Harrison, which was neat. Then, I had lunch, and washed the dishes, and then cleaned my room, the living room, and the bathroom. I spent an hour painting my nails (I was trying to paint them black with white polka dots to match my skirt, but the dots turned out more like blobs than actual dots...), and ended up having to repaint a couple of them, and I accidentally spilled a little of the black polish on my carpet, but we were going to flip it over anyway, so it doesn't really matter. Then, I printed out a couple of maps, and then went into the bathroom and straightened my hair. Mom got home, and then I got dressed in the outfit I had picked out - black and white polka dotted skirt, white cami, black cardigan (with a black belt at the waist), and my new shoes.

Mom, Quinn, and I left the house, and I dropped them off at the parcourse to walk. I went off alone, down Reynolda, to Northwest Blvd., to Hawthorne, and onto Cloverdale to pick up Robyn, and then I took First Street to Stratford to Reynolda back. We ate at Zoe's, and talked about all sorts of things, then paid and left, picking up Mom and Quinn on the way back through. When we got home, Robyn and I sat in my room and talked for a while, and then we grabbed my dad and headed off to Greensboro at 6:30.

We got to the Carolina Theatre at 7:15, purchased our tickets, put our names in for a door prize drawing (neither of us won anything), got concessions, and went into the theatre and grabbed a couple of seats. They drew for prizes, and announced that their was a 95-year-old lady in attendance that night that had been to the theatre back in the 1920's when it was a vaudeville house. And then, the movie began.

I love this photo...so pretty. :)

It's amazing how different a movie is on the big screen versus on your tv at home. Being part of an audience is I think what made the experience for me. Everyone was laughing and clapping and just having a good time, which made the film all the more fun to watch. I had already seen Swing Time, a Fred Astaire/Ginger Rogers film from 1936 (wow...this film is 75 years old, 3/4 of a century...). Anyway, it was amazing to see, and I had a blast watching it. When it was over, and we had made a quick stop at the restroom, we crossed the street and hopped in the car, where my dad was waiting to take us home.

We dropped Robyn off at her house, and then Dad drove me home, and I fed Ella, and chilled for a little while before coming back to my room for the night. On the agenda for tomorrow...dinner at my grandmother's, and that's about it for the week.

Little Things I Feel Like Writing About...

So, I guess I haven't really blogged in a while...sorry about that. Things have been busy, and I've been lazy, and that combination leads to no new posts...Anyway, I guess there hasn't really been all that much, just a couple of little things which I will mention just because I feel like it.

 - Thursday was the last Wake basketball home game, and Dad and I went to that. It was against Georgia Tech, and Wake lost as usual, but it was fun.

 - On Friday, I went on an errand run with Quinn. We dropped Mom off at the parcourse so she could walk, and then we went to Barnes & Noble for a couple of books, and then to the mall. I bought a couple of things at Forever 21, and then we grabbed a couple of smoothies from Starbucks. And then, we picked Mom up, and chilled for the evening.

 - On Saturday, we mainly chilled for the day. Mom, Quinn, and I went up to Casanova's to buy coffee beans, and we got drinks and snacks and just chilled at one of the tables for a while. Mom made taco soup that morning in the slow cooker, so we had that for dinner, and watched Eat Pray Love, which was cute. And then, I cleaned Ella's cage afterwards.

 - Today, we really just stayed indoors, what with the rain and all. Quinn is sick, so I've been trying to stay away from him, but it's only half-working. I don't think I'll catch anything, but whatever. So, Mom, Quinn, and I went out, and Mom showed me the easiest way to get to Robyn's, since I'll be picking her up alone, and I'd rather know where I'm going than get lost on the way. So, we drove that, and then stopped at the grocery store and picked up a few things. And we had dinner, and ended up watching Journey to the Center of the Earth (the one with Brendan Fraser), which was cute.

 - I'm working on a new video thing on Sony Vegas, which is coming along pretty well. I'm trying some new techniques and things, so yeah. I'm still figuring out how the program works, but it's working out...slowly.

 - And I'm currently reading The Grapes of Wrath, which is actually really interesting. Super-long chapters though, which is kinda annoying, but I'm able to work through it. It was funny, because a couple of days after I started reading it, the Final Jeopardy answer was John Steinbeck, and I got it right. So, anyway, I only have fifty pages left, which I should be able to finish tomorrow.

So, on the agenda for the week...not much. The only really important thing is my get-together/dinner & a movie with Robyn, which I'm really looking forward to. There's really not much else this week...with basketball over, my calendar is kinda empty...oh well.

And Every Time That We Meet, I Skip A Heartbeat...

Okay, so let me see...I have a lot of stuff to talk about.

So, on Friday, I woke up, got ready, messed around on the computer, had lunch, etc. Then, when Mom came home from work, I took the car and went to the bank to cash a check, and then I headed off to the mall...which was quite fun. My first stop was Forever 21, and I ended up buying a black and white polka dot skirt, which I think is adorable.

And then, I went into Hollister, looking for a cardigan, which I didn't find, but ended up buying a green, red, and white flowered top, which I probably didn't need, but I thought it was cute, and Sylvia has corrupted me when it comes to clothes shopping, so yeah. And then, I went to American Eagle to return that pink tee I bought, because it never really fit right, even after we washed it. I decided not to look around there, knowing that I would probably find something to buy.

So, I finished up there, and then went next door to Rack Room Shoes, just to poke around. And I'm still in kid's sizes, which sucks, because all the really cute shoes are the women's shoes/sizes...but anyway, then I headed back toward Belk, and ended up stopping at the Claire's across from the food court, and bought a hairband, a hairclip, and a hat. And then, I left the mall, and went over to an appointment, and then came home and chilled for the evening.

On Saturday, Mom brought peanut doughnuts home, so we had those for breakfast/lunch, and then we went to Target. I ended up getting a hair straightener, because I really liked the look after Sylvia and Emma straightened my hair in Oriental. So, we got a bunch of stuff, and came home, and then the two of us went for a walk at the parcourse. We came home, and chilled for a while, and then we picked up salad and pizza, and came home and had dinner while we watched Monty Python and the Holy Grail, which I'd never seen before. And it actually was rather funny...stupid, but funny. And that's all I'm going to elaborate on that one. And then, I cleaned Ella's cage and that was pretty much it.

Today, (Sunday), I got up, and Mom and I went to the grocery store, and came home and really just relaxed for a while. Mom went for a walk, and I got dressed and straightened my hair (well, sorta), and then Dad and I went to my aunt and uncle's to celebrate my grandmother's birthday. Quinn was fast asleep, after staying up all night, and catching a cold, so we left him where he was. So, anyway, we went over there, and we all made choatzes (pronounced jowzas, I think), which is something we always do, and then chilled and snacked while we boiled them, and Dad went and picked up Quinn, who was now awake.

And then, we ate, and talked a bit, and watched a little of the NASCAR race, and then sang "Happy Birthday" and had cake and ice cream, and opened cards and gifts, and then we headed out. We got home, and I let Ella out, and then came upstairs, and Mom and I watched the Oscars. It was a good show, I guess, but I never really understood the "history" parts...they would mention something like, "The very first Academy Awards ceremony was held right across the street at the Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel," and the decorations would change to match the setting, and then they wouldn't go any further with it, so it was a bit disappointing on that end.

But, it was good overall, so that's what counts. And now, I'm just chilling here in my room, almost ready to go to bed. So, here's what I was wearing today...

The picture sucks because I took it with my phone. I had to edit the darkness out with Picnik. Anyway, I was sorta inspired by an outfit that one of the characters on Pretty Little Liars wore last week. And that's my new hat, by the way. It's funny, because I felt very "Aria-ish" (the character on PLL), but I also felt very "Old Hollywood/30's Gangster Flick", what with the fedora and all. So, it was very cool.

Random thing, but "Heartbeat" by Scouting For Girls is quite possibly my new favorite song...why? Because of this...

Because you know how much I love Fred & Ginger...haha. Speaking of that, Robyn and I are planning on going to Greensboro on March 8th, to see Swing Time, an Astaire/Rogers movie, on the big screen at the Carolina Theatre, which I am very much looking forward to.

Other than that, Dad and I have our last Wake home game this Thursday, March 3rd, which gives me mixed feelings. In one respect, I'm glad the season's coming to an end, with how bad Wake is doing. But, on the other hand, I love spending time with my dad, so it's a toss-up.

Anyway, it's late, and I really should have been in bed half an hour ago, so I'm going to stop here.

Oh, Wouldn't It Be Lovely...

Anyway, I'm just on here because I'm bored, so we'll see what, if any, good comes out of this...

So, Tuesday, Dad and I went to the Wake/Virginia Tech game, and Wake lost as usual. It was fun, though, just to get out of the house and spend some time with Dad. And the Nationwide "Quote the Deacs" question was "What is an advantage of being tall?", and all the players were like, "Being able to see over everyone," or "Getting noticed for my height," and stuff like that, and then, I think it was CJ Harris, says, "I wouldn't know. I'm the shortest guy on the team." And we all busted out laughing. So, that was cool.

Anyway, yesterday I chilled for the day, and then my grandmother came over for dinner, and we watched Wheel of Fortune and Jeopardy. And my dad pulled out a couple of his old photo albums from his college and post-college days, and we got to see some of the places he'd been to, and some of the things he'd done, which was pretty cool. And then, we took my grandmother home, and we came home and watched Criminal Minds, and then I let Ella out, and that was pretty much it.

Today has been much of the same. Right now, I'm just chilling, waiting for Mom to get home. Kinda boring, but whatever.

So, onto my movies...I'm watching a lot of Best Picture winners right now. My Fair Lady, Gigi, All The King's Men, and I have a couple more on the DVR still to watch. Oh, this was pretty funny...I watched My Fair Lady on Tuesday, and then last night, we were listening to NPR on the way to my grandmother's house, and they have this piano puzzler on Wednesday nights where they rewrite a popular tune in the style of a certain composer and the person they've picked to call in tries to guess the tune and the composer. And wouldn't you know, the tune was "Wouldn't It Be Lovely" from My Fair Lady...so I totally got that part right!

Oh, other news...I finished Steps In Time, Fred Astaire's autobiography, last night. Pretty fun to read. There were some really funny little stories written in, like how his sister called him "Moaning Minnie", or this one...

"In Detroit I had a horrible scare - for an actor - when I went to my hotel for a little nap late one afternoon, after a matinee performance, and never thought about leaving a call. I awoke suddenly and saw that the time was 8:15pm. Here I was on the eighteenth floor of the hotel, about six blocks from the theatre, and due on stage in full make-up in eight minutes! I cannot describe the panic I was in...

"I grabbed my hat and coat and ran for the elevator. It was nowhere near the eighteenth floor. I spotted some fire escape stairs and ran down four flights about five or six steps at a time and managed to catch an elevator standing there. I reached in my pocket, grabbed a bill, handed it to the elevator boy and said, "Mac, get me downstairs - fast - don't stop even if Mr. Statler rings." He got me there...

"I now had five blocks through heavy theatre-time traffic, no taxis available, so I ran zigzag like a crazy man. Reached the stage door of the theatre, crashed through the reception hall just as the first chorus number was finishing. I had to rush right on stage as I was without changing clothes or putting on make-up. I was completely out of breath. Everyone wondered what on earth was the matter with me."

So, anyway, I thought that was kinda funny. But whatever...okay, back to blogging. Not much on the agenda for the next few days. I might head out to the mall and Target tomorrow after Mom gets home from her half-day at work, but it depends. And then, on Sunday, we're going to my aunt & uncle's to celebrate my grandmother's 91st birthday. And I think that's all I got for now...
